We are seeking a strategic HR Business Partner to act as a trusted advisor to our leadership team, aligning people strategy with business objectives. This role goes beyond traditional HR administration — you will be a strategic partner who drives organizational effectiveness, talent development, and cultural transformation in a fast-paced fintech environment.

 

The HRBP will work closely with business leaders to anticipate workforce needs, design people-centric solutions, and champion a high-performance culture that enables Shukran to achieve its ambitious growth targets.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Workforce Planning

  • Partner with leadership to understand business strategy and translate it into actionable people plans.
  • Analyze workforce capabilities and identify future talent needs aligned with business growth.
  • Identify critical positions and own talent pipelines & processes.
  • Forecast workforce trends and proactively address skill gaps.
  • Design strategies for talent acquisition, development, and retention.

Business Partnership & Advisory

  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for assigned business units.
  • Conduct regular strategic meetings with business leaders to provide HR guidance and consultation.
  • Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and solve business challenges through people solutions.
  • Translate business objectives into HR initiatives that drive performance and engagement.
  • Provide expert advice on organizational design, restructuring, and change management.

Performance Management & Talent Development

  • Design and implement performance management systems aligned with business goals.
  • Lead talent review and calibration sessions with leadership teams.
  • Coach managers on effective performance conversations, goal setting, and feedback delivery.
  • Develop and execute learning and development programs that build critical capabilities.
  • Create career development pathways and implement succession planning frameworks.
  • Partner with leaders to identify high-potential talent and develop acceleration programs.

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Champion organizational culture and ensure alignment with company values.
  • Design and implement engagement initiatives based on employee feedback and pulse surveys.
  • Analyze engagement data and develop action plans to address workplace culture challenges.
  • Create recognition programs that drive motivation and reinforce desired behaviors.
  • Lead initiatives that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Build and maintain a positive employee experience across the entire employee lifecycle.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Manage complex employee relations issues with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Conduct thorough, objective investigations into workplace conflicts and grievances.
  • Provide guidance on disciplinary actions and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance on employment laws and labor regulations and across Shukran’s market of operations.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that balance business needs with legal compliance.

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Partner with leadership to develop compensation strategies aligned with market positioning.
  • Ensure pay equity and competitive positioning within the fintech sector.
  • Provide guidance on salary reviews, promotions, and incentive structures.
  • Analyze compensation trends and make recommendations to attract and retain top talent.

Change Management & Organizational Development

  • Design and implement change management strategies that minimize disruption and maximize adoption.
  • Build change capability within the organization through coaching and training.
  • Assess organizational effectiveness and recommend interventions to improve productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field.
  • 8 - 10 years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years in an HRBP or strategic HR role.
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CIPD, or equivalent).
  • Experience with HRIS systems and HR technology platforms.
  • Track record of successfully implementing culture transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with fast-paced scaling organizations across multiple markets.
  • Proven experience in fintech, technology, or high-growth startup environments will be an advantage.
  • Deep knowledge of Kenyan employment law and labor regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leadership and influence decision-making.
  • Experience designing and implementing HR programs including performance management, talent development, enforcing culture and engagement initiatives.

  • Commercial Acumen: Understanding of how HR decisions impact business performance and financial outcomes.
